REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
unmoderated group misc.phone.mobile.android
This is a formal Request for Discussion (RFD) for the creation of the
unmoderated newsgroup misc.phone.mobile.android

NEWSGROUPS LINE:
misc.phone.mobile.android	Mobile phones and other devices running
				Android OS.

RATIONALE:

This newsgroup is meant to form a new group for the discussion and
mutual support of the Android OS devices.

Mainly discussion is planned to be about Android OS - based mobile
phones, but also tablets and everything else Android - based. misc.*
have been chosen just to show it's more about consumer Android devices
than programming for Android and technical things; but that doesn't
mean newsgroup is planned ONLY as a place for end - users, but for
everyone using and / or programming for Android devices / smartphones.

Currently, discussion of Android is mainly nonexistent on Usenet. But 
popular in Google Groups - many groups could be found about Android, 
both OS and devices. Also quite popular on the web - many forums exist.

Also discussion in comp.mobile.ipad shown that there are persons
waiting for Android newsgroup to be created, better as Big-8 group.
(One person claimed that he "doesn't touches alt.*".)

CHARTER:

misc.phone.mobile.android is an unmoderated group for the users of
Android OS: users of mobile phones, tablet PC's, microcomputers, etc,
including, but not limited to, software problems, hardware problems,
discussing ideas of what program is suitable for chosen purposes, and
what hardware is suitable for using specific software written for
Android OS and which Android OS version is suitable for chosen program.

Posters are expected to abide by normal Usenet standards of decorum,
and to ignore articles intended to disrupt the group. Spam is 
prohibited. Advertising is allowed only if program, device, or
anything else is either running Android OS, clearly made for Android OS, 
or being marketed towards users of devices running Android OS.
(Advertisers: follow common sense! Others follow it, too.)

All discussion of active proposals should be posted to
news.groups.proposals.

To this end, the followup header of this RFD has been set to
news.groups.proposals.

If desired by the readership of closely affected groups, the discussion
may be crossposted to those groups, but care should be taken to ensure
that all discussion appears in news.groups.proposals as well.
