From: Steve Bonine <spb@pobox.com> Subject: Moderator Vacancy Investigation: sci.med.obgyn Date: Sun, 29 May 2011 09:23:14 EDT Message-ID: <94eva5Feu2U3@mid.individual.net> MODERATOR VACANCY INVESTIGATION (MVI) moderated group sci.med.obgyn This is a formal Moderator Vacancy Investigation (MVI), begun because moderated newsgroup sci.med.obgyn is not functioning, and may have been abandoned by its moderator(s). This investigation will attempt to verify the reasons for non-function, and may result in the removal of the group or the selection and installation of a new moderator. In practice, the Big-8 Management Board considers the third alternative -- changing the status of the group from moderated to unmoderated -- as likely to cause more harm than good. NEWSGROUPS LINE: sci.med.obgyn Obstetrics & gynecology. (Moderated) RATIONALE: Probe posts to this group resulted in bounces in September 2010. Recent attempts to submit to the group resulted in no response. DISTRIBUTION: news.announce.newgroups news.groups.proposals sci.med.obgyn sci.med CHARTER sci.med.obgyn will be a moderated discussion group on all aspects of the practice of obstetrics and gyhecology. This can include, but is not limited to case consultation, distribution of new information in the specialty, and discussion of the practice environment. This newsgroup is NOT for patients seeking profesional advice. There are already other newsgroups for this type of discussion. (ie, sci.med and misc.kids.pregnancy) The intended audience for this proposed group would be the physician who practices obstetrics and gynecology and the ancillary personnel who provide health care for women. HISTORY OF THE GROUP: The newsgroup was active from August 1996 through September 1999. History information at ftp.isc.org is incomplete. PROPONENT: Steve Bonine <spb@pobox.com> PROCEDURE: Those who wish to comment on this moderator vacancy investigation should subscribe to news.groups.proposals and participate in the relevant threads in that newsgroup. To this end, the followup header of this MVI has been set to news.groups.proposals.
