This investigation will attempt to verify the reasons for non-function, and may result in the removal of the group or the selection and installation of a new moderator. In practice, the Big-8 Management Board considers the third alternative -- changing the status of the group from moderated to unmoderated -- as likely to cause more harm than good. NEWSGROUPS LINE: rec.arts.anime.info Announcements about Japanese animation. (Moderated) RATIONALE: Probe posts to this group resulted in bounces. The last on-topic article dates from 2004. DISTRIBUTION: news.announce.newgroups news.groups.proposals rec.arts.anime.info rec.arts.anime.fandom rec.arts.anime.marketplace CHARTER: REC.ARTS.ANIME.INFO [Moderated] The following kinds of postings will be allowed: - FAQs (natch) - Lists (voice actor list, CD list, subbed/dubbed anime list, etc...) - Informational postings ("How to take care of your cels", etc...) - Summary reviews of magazines like Animedia, Animage, NewType, Advance Comics, etc. - Anime Reviews - Industry, con, and club announcements - Any significant anime-related news ("Mamoru does DIRTY PAIR movie!") Any follow-ups to postings in rec.arts.anime.info will be sent to rec.arts.anime.misc. HISTORY OF THE GROUP: The group was created in a split of rec.arts.anime in 1993. It passed its vote on 27 April 1993, 166:31. The group was active between August 1993 and December 1999. The group was mentioned in a reorg of rec.arts.anime in 2008: “rec.arts.anime.info is a moderated newsgroup that had an unhealthy moderator that recently passed away, hence the low traffic. Furthermore, there is some desire to retain the newsgroup, with the addition of a new moderator(s) at a later date.” PROPONENT: Steve Bonine <spb@pobox.com> PROCEDURE: Those who wish to comment on this moderator vacancy investigation should subscribe to news.groups.proposals and participate in the relevant threads in that newsgroup. To this end, the followup header of this MVI has been set to news.groups.proposals.
