- With no urgent items of business on the agenda, the meeting instead discussed the past, present, and future of Usenet with guests Ronda and Jay Hauben, and also Ronda's 1997 book Netizens (co-written with Michael Hauben).
- TM gave notice of a public talk on Usenet he was giving (in a personal capacity) later that evening, hosted by the SPGB
