REPLACEMENT MODERATOR FOUND
comp.sys.wearables

The Big-8 Management Board is pleased to announce that Greg Pfeil has
volunteered to moderate the newsgroup comp.sys.wearables. He was one of
the group's original moderators when it was first created in 1998 and
has agreed to return to the role. The group is now open for submissions.

CHARTER

A forum for the creation and distribution of wearable computer systems
and their software as well as for the dissemination of knowledge on
these subjects. Appropriate topics of discussion would include choosing
the architechture and O/S for a wearable system; product preferences
including quality, specifications and applications; methods of
constrution; and courses of study. Posting binaries is discouraged,
technical diagrams necessary to the construction of systems and other
such binaries should be accessed via a link to an FTP or Web site.

Posts on semi-wearables, such as pen systems and PDAs should be posted
to their respective newsgroups, not comp.sys.wearables.

Commercial advertisements, political discussions (except those dealing
with the acceptiblity of wearable systems), flames, etc. are not
appropriate in this group. The general "netiquette" FAQs posted in
news.announce.newusers and news.answers all apply to comp.sys.wearables.

MODERATION POLICY

(Taken from Message-ID: <m21pvpzi8t.fsf@technomadic.org>)

In the 16 years since the last post to this group, wearable computing
has rapidly moved forward. Everything from smart watches, heads-up
displays, and of course, the pocket-sized devices that are so much more
powerful than the PC/104 half-cube I built in my dorm room decades ago.

But what exists outside of those spaces? What has the mainsteam industry
overlooked or gotten wrong? What wild thing have you built to address
some need that isn't being satisfied elsewhere? Please share it here.

Also note that this group is moderated, but anything even tangentially
relevant is accepted, so long as posters abide by the Contributor
Covenant
(https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/1/code_of_conduct/). The
last version of the posting guidelines (from over 20 years ago) can
still be found at
https://groups.google.com/g/comp.sys.wearables/c/1ft995kLzXg. Please
follow them for the time being, but feel free to bring it up to me or
the group if you feel any of it should be updated.
