From: The Big-8 Management Board <board@big-8.org> Subject: Moderator Vacancy Announcement: soc.religion.christian.youth-work Newsgroups: soc.religion.christian.youth-work, news.announce.newgroups, news.groups.proposals Followup-To: news.groups.proposals Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2007 12:45:43 -0500 Organization: http://www.big-8.org/ Moderation Vacancy Announcement (MVA) soc.religion.christian.youth-work This is a formal Moderator Vacancy Announcement (MVA), initiated after the moderator of the above-listed moderated newsgroup has been found to be absent. The goal of this process is to find a new moderator for the group. RATIONALE: Regular approvals stopped in July 2000, though there a single final approval in October 2000. There was also a stoppage from January 1999 to August 1999. The last moderator of the group has no interest in the group. Possible actions include: (1) Revive the group with a new moderator. (2) Convert the group to an unmoderated status. (3) Remove the group. An unmoderated group would likely be susceptible to trolls, or digression into debate about religious beliefs or doctrine, rather than focusing on youth work. When the group was active, there was an enthusiastic, though somewhat low volume, of discussion. If there is still interest, there is no reason to remove the newsgroup. If volunteer(s) steps forward, they can be assigned the moderatorship. HISTORY: The newsgroup soc.religion.christian.youth-work was created in July 1994, and was generally active until June 2000, with a stoppage from January 1999 to August 1999. Traffic volune was around 1 to 2 articles per day, though approvals were often batched. PROCEDURE: The Big-8 Management Board has determined that the above listed newsgroup needs a new moderator, and has decided to proceed with a Moderator Vacancy Announcement. This process is documented here: http://www.big-8.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=policies:mvi In short, the Board plans to either appoint a new moderator, unmoderate the newsgroup, or remove the newsgroup entirely. The followup header of this post has been set to news.groups.proposals.
