- After the call for votes was issued, the Board received an e-mail from someone volunteering to take over as moderator for the group. JS discussed this with Paul Schleck, and as a result of this discussion TM wrote to the volunteer for further information on their background and plans.
- RL to continue this discussion with the volunteer, in particular to ask whether they would be willing and able to assume technical and/or financial responsibility for the group's existing moderation software setup, and to get further details on their plans to revitalize the group.
- TM to post a follow-up to the LCC indicating that the matter is on hold pending further discussion with the volunteer.

- The meeting reviewed the pros and cons of changing the moderation status of a group and considered whether they still applied to today's smaller Usenet. It was observed that there was at least one past instance of a group being successfully converted from unmoderated to moderated (namely, comp.ai .
- RL to open a discussion on news.admin.moderation and news.groups.proposals to ask whether anyone was aware of a group being converted from moderated to unmoderated in the past, and what the current feeling is (particularly among news server administrators) on whether such an action would be successful nowadays.
