                       remove news.groups.reviews

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) to remove the moderated
newsgroup news.groups.reviews.


PROCEDURE:

The B8MB plans to begin voting on this proposal after five days.  Please
offer any final discussion or comments before the end of this waiting
period.  Voting may take up to one week (7 days); a result will be posted
following the end of the voting period.

All discussion of this proposal should be posted to news.groups.

SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION:

After the first RFD, several posters discussed reviving the newsgroup
and offering regular reviews; but since that time, there has been only
one review.


RATIONALE: remove news.groups.reviews

news.groups.reviews was abandoned by its moderator in October 1999. In
October 2001 we took it over and tried to get it going again.
Unfortunately there wasn't much interest so it's time for the group to be
removed.

group.  The intention is simply to help people find interesting newsgroups
-- even those that they would not have thought to ask about.

The charter (above) will be posted monthly, along with the submission
guidelines.
