From: The Big-8 Management Board <board@big-8.org> Newsgroups: news.announce.newgroups,rec.hunting.dogs,news.groups.proposals Subject: RESULT: rec.hunting.dogs will be removed Followup-To: news.groups.proposals Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 09:36:02 -0700 Message-ID: <nan.20080331163602$5f38@killfile.org> RESULT rec.hunting.dogs will be removed The Last Call for Comments (LCC) on 12 Mar 2008 initiated a five-day period for final comments. Following the comment period, the Big-8 Management board has decided by consensus to remove the newsgroup rec.hunting.dogs. This group will be removed on 07 Apr 2008. RATIONALE: remove rec.hunting.dogs This is a dead group. There has been no viable activity on this group for nearly a year (maybe longer). Even before that, the activity level of this group was extremely low (no more than 1 or 2 posts per month). Note that this is despite the fact that the moderator (myself, the proponent of the removal RFD) dutifully checks for new posts on a regular basis (at least one per week). It is important to note that it is the moderator of the group who is initiating the proposal. HISTORY: The group was originally a spin off from rec.hunting back in the mid-1990's. Because of the number and nature of dog-related posts, it was felt a separate discussion group under the hierarchy of rec.hunting should be created. After an appropriate RFD & CFV process which showed very little opposition to the proposal, the group was created. The moderator was designated to be myself (Chris Barnes); to date, this is the only moderator the group has ever had.
