Morgan <kmorgan@aptalaska.net>, moderator of the group CHARTER OF COMP.SYS.MAC.PROGRAMMER.INFO: A moderated newsgroup for posting FAQ's, digests, convention and release announcements, "columns" by developers and industry insiders, contact information, reviews, bulletins and any frequently requested information relating to development for the Macintosh computer system. This group will be moderated by MacTech magazine <csmp_info@xplain.com> with the following mandate: Moderator's Mandate: -------------------- The moderator will assure that all contributions get posted, routing those that are not appropriate to csmp.info to the appropriate forum, and posting a pointer to them on csmp.info. The decision as to what is appropriate will be based on a comp.sys.mac.programmer.info FAQ, that will contain a list of acceptable types and unacceptable types of postings and a short description of each. This document will be posted monthly on csmp.info and subject to revision. Additions to the material list can be made at the moderators discretion based on at least four requests from separate users. If at least four separate users object to any addition, a RFD and CFV on the issue will be required. If any user objects to the moderators actions, the moderator may be removed by a specific RFD and CFV on this issue. The RFD and CFV must include the name of proposed replacement who is willing to accept the responsibilities. Initially the following types of posts will be considered acceptable: [Ptr] : posts that give information pointing to the locations of more detailed information. eg contact info for Metrowerks, lists of ftp sites with source code, descriptions of csmp newsgroups, etc [FAQ] : frequently asked questions with answers. eg how to use an external editor with SC++, what are the universal headers, how to hide the menubar, etc [Review] : unbiased evaluations of various programming resources. eg features in SC++, what was discusses at WWDC, what articles were in _develop_ 19 or MacTech Oct '94. [Note] : brief announcements. eg Symantec 7.0.4 update available on Sumex, MacWorld Boston Aug 5th, New Book by Dave Mark (Review to follow) RATIONALE: I took over moderation of this group in September of 2007 as a result of an MVI after the group had been dead for some time. Traffic was always very light and there have been no ontopic submissions since May, 2008. HISTORY OF THE GROUP: comp.sys.mac.programmer.info is a moderated newsgroup which passed its vote for creation by 189:25 as reported in news.announce.newgroups on 1 November 1994. PROCEDURE: Those who wish to comment on this request to remove this newsgroup should subscribe to news:news.groups.proposals and participate in the relevant threads in that newsgroup. To this end, the followup header of this RFD has been set to news.groups.proposals. All discussion of active proposals should be posted to news.groups.proposals. If desired by the readership of closely affected groups, the discussion may be crossposted to those groups, but care must be taken to ensure that all discussion appears in news.groups.proposals as well.
