From: Steve Bonine <spb@pobox.com> Subject: Moderator Vacancy Investigation: soc.politics.anti-fascism Date: Fri, 17 Jun 2011 21:27:56 EDT Message-ID: <962apaFpa3U6@mid.individual.net> MODERATOR VACANCY INVESTIGATION (MVI) moderated group soc.politics.anti-fascism This is a formal Moderator Vacancy Investigation (MVI), begun because moderated newsgroup soc.politics.anti-fascism is not functioning, and may have been abandoned by its moderator(s). This investigation will attempt to verify the reasons for non-function, and may result in the removal of the group or the selection and installation of a new moderator. In practice, the Big-8 Management Board considers the third alternative -- changing the status of the group from moderated to unmoderated -- as likely to cause more harm than good. NEWSGROUPS LINE: soc.politics.anti-fascism The politics of fighting fascism. (Moderated) RATIONALE: Probe posts to this group resulted in bounces. DISTRIBUTION: news.announce.newgroups news.groups.proposals soc.politics.anti-fascism CHARTER HISTORY OF THE GROUP: The newsgroup was created 27 February 1998 along with misc.activism.anti-fascism.announce and misc.activism.anti-fascism.tactics. On 10 July 2007 there was an RFD to remove *.anti-fascism.* that was not resolved. On 6 February 2010 there were MVIs for misc.anti-fascism.announce and misc.anti-fascism.announce; these groups were removed on 19 March 2010. There has never been significant activity in the newsgroup with a maximum of six articles in the month of May 2005 and no activity for long periods. PROPONENT: Steve Bonine <spb@pobox.com> PROCEDURE: Those who wish to comment on this moderator vacancy investigation should subscribe to news.groups.proposals and participate in the relevant threads in that newsgroup. To this end, the followup header of this MVI has been set to news.groups.proposals.
